Oil Scars

Exploring how oil extraction and production is intertwined with photography, photographic film, image production, time, memory, family and erosion.

Polaroid photos taken of the North Sea near my home, using available or expired film with a 1972 Polaroid Land Camera.

Immersed for up to six months in seawater, sand and everyday household products containing fossil-fuel derived petrochemicals. Or scorched with a gas flame.

Ancient marine animals and plants become toxic in human hands. Each image is a one-off, and once eroded is forever damaged and cannot be brought back.
