Past Light
My North Sea journey is for my family. From five of us, there is now just me, feeling exposed at low tide. The right, proper, way to remember them, to keep them all alive within me, is to want to stay alive myself. So I follow the shoreline, ride the waves and dive and flow as deeply as I dare. I stay on a remote island to be surrounded by North Sea, not just edged by it. For the feeling we had as we balanced in a caravan on the clifftop and sailed the ferries to Belgium and Norway. Or as Dad felt on the gas platform with the sea boiling at its legs. This North Sea Journey is for all who have lost, are lost, or seeking their true north.
